Director of Assessment Services
This position exists to direct and administer the statewide development, implementation, and monitoring of assessment and sex offense specific services for DYS committed juveniles. Duties include statewide policy development, operating plans, staffing patterns, and budget management including contracts, personnel, and operations. Currently, over 100 behavioral health and assessment services professionals and medical staff, including additional contract psychiatry, mental health, dental, and physicians, are directly impacted by decisions made by the Director of Assessment Services & Sex Offense Specific Services. This position determines the scope of services to be provided to assessment and Sex Offense Specific youth, interprets and formulates relevant standards, establishes appropriate policies, writes RFP's, negotiates contracts / agreements, supervises staff who provide support and / or technical assistance and training to the division in the areas of assessment & SOS services, provides an interpretation of legislation, policy analysis, and fiscal note impact to clinical areas, testifies on bills if necessary, and represents the agency on cross-system collaborative boards, committees, and meetings. Serves as the DYS lead on legislative issues such as the standards of assessment, and treatment and quality of services for youth per the Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB). Oversight of Assessment & Sex Offense Specific Programming & Policy / Administration.
Minimum Qualifications : Most possess and maintain a current, valid Colorado license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Psychologist ~AND~ A combination of related education and / or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to ten (10) years.

The Diana Screen, a sexual risk screening tool, is administered to all applicants to the Division of Youth Services (DYS) seeking positions of trust with children and teens to help ensure that ethical boundaries between children and adults are maintained. At the DYS, the safety and protection of the youth who have been entrusted to us is our #1 priority. The results of the Diana Screen will be provided to the Division of Youth Services and may be used as part of the Division's decision on whether a candidate is selected.
