As a Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) , you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess.
Job Overview
Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) are data management experts who collect clinical information about cancer patients and maintain a clinical database of cancer statistics for various healthcare agencies.
ODS-C work closely with physicians, administrators, researchers, and health care planners to provide core support for cancer program development, ensure compliance of quality and reporting standards, and serve as a valuable resource on cancer informatics with the goal of preventing and controlling cancer.
This position has responsibility for coordinating, planning and organizing the functions of the Cancer Registry in conjunction with the Medical Staff Oncology Committee and the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) program guidelines.
What you will need
Associate Degree in Cancer Registry Management (CRM), Cancer Information Management (CIM) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred;
or associate degree in any field or equivalent of 60 college credits required. Minimum of one-year experience in health care setting preferred.
- Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C), formally known as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) preferred; successful completion of a certificate in CRM, CIM, or RHIT from an NCRA-accredited provider with certification by the National Cancer Registrars Association required within 3-years from start of employment.
