About the Role :
Grocery Outlet is advancing a cloud-first strategy, utilizing forefront technologies like GCP, SAP HANA, Talend Middleware, and Apigee for API management.
We are seeking a strategic and innovative Vice President of Architecture, Engineering, and Design to lead our technology direction, fostering innovation and operational excellence in a dynamic retail landscape.
This executive role requires a visionary leader with deep technical acumen and proven experience in steering high-caliber teams toward achieving strategic objectives.
The VP, Architecture, Engineering & Design will report to the SVP, Chief Information Officer.
Responsibilities Include :
- Strategic Leadership : Develop and lead the execution of an overarching cloud-first architecture and technology strategy, ensuring alignment with Grocery Outlet's strategic business goals.
- Enterprise Architecture Oversight : Spearhead the creation, adoption, and governance of a comprehensive enterprise architecture, promoting standards and best practices across the business, data, application, and technology domains.
- SAP Center of Excellence (COE) : Build and helm the SAP COE, driving excellence in SAP solutions integration and optimizing SAP-driven processes.
- Innovation and Transformation : Lead technology innovation, exploring and incorporating emerging technologies to secure competitive advantage.
Oversee the initiation of proof-of-concepts and pilot projects to test new ideas.
- Executive Team Collaboration : Work closely with C-level and senior executives to influence corporate strategy, technology adoption, and investment priorities.
- Organizational Leadership : Cultivate a high-performing architecture, engineering, and design team, emphasizing a culture of collaboration, excellence, and ongoing development.
About The Pay :
- Base Salary Range : $190,000 - $230,000
- Annual Bonus Program

- Final compensation will be determined based upon experience and skills and may vary based on location.
About You :
- Experience : At least 15 years in IT architecture, design, and engineering leadership, with extensive experience in strategic planning and execution at the enterprise level, preferably in retail or consumer goods sectors.
- Technical Proficiency : Expert in cloud architectures (preferably GCP), deep knowledge of SAP HANA and its ecosystem, and experience in middleware and API management solutions.
- Strategic Vision : Demonstrated ability to shape IT strategy and business alignment, with a keen focus on innovation and future trends.
- Leadership Excellence : Outstanding leadership and organizational skills, with a track record of mentoring senior leaders and driving cross-functional collaboration.
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree is highly preferred.
