General Responsibilities

• Perform various aspects of Civil design as directed by a Senior Civil Engineer including conceptual studies, design analyses, calculations, site design for buildings or subdivisions, design for infrastructure projects, and design related to a business development activity such as a response to a Request for Proposal (RFP).
• Preparation of programming documents, schematic documents, design development documents, and construction documents as directed.
• Coordination and communication with design team members to ensure the Civil design details integrate properly with the work of all other project disciplines.
• Preparation of marketing and presentation materials as directed.
• Perform Civil services associated with the bidding process, including preparing addenda and amendments and opening and tabulating bids as directed.
• Perform Civil services associated with the construction phase, including field visits, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings as directed.
• Comply with quality control policies and procedures.
• Learn and implement department and company standards.
• Develop analysis and design skills.
• Participate in team meetings and coordinate efforts with other team members.
• Work with, respond to, and take direction from Senior Engineers, Project Managers and Design Managers.
• Work with a team of architects, engineers, interior designers and landscape architects.

Graduate of an ABET-accredited 4-, 5-, or 6-year engineering program in one of the following disciplines :

Post-graduate degree in Civil Engineering or related degree may be given additional consideration. Completed or be in a position to complete the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and all other state requirements for certification as an EIT is preferred. A Civil Engineer should have 2-4 years of specific, post-graduation Civil engineering experience that includes experience with designing a site, roadway, subdivision, or utilities; development of manual calculations and analytical models for Civil analysis and design; development of construction documents; coordination with other design team members; and experience in responding to construction phase queries and submittals. Pursuing Professional Engineer licensure (PE) within 36 months of being hired is required. Understanding of sustainable design principles and design practices and pursuing LEED AP accreditation is desirable. Additional certifications such as CDT, CCS, or CCCA are encouraged. Active membership in NSPE, ASCE or other related professional organizations is desirable. Ability to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, and information management is required. Familiarity with design and production software to a point of being able to utilize the software in the development of project documents and interact with other project team members is highly desirable.

At JMT, we prioritize a healthy work / life balance and offer a flexible hybrid working schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending and lifting of minimal weight are required. Our office environment is comfortable, has adequate lighting and temperature, and is free from noise, dust, and other hazards.
