Who is the ideal candidate for this position?
You will be known as the go-to person for a specific department range within SRA. You will assist both the pre- and post- award staff with award setup questions and resolve any issues brought to your attention. Although there is little communication with the departments directly you will interact with our entire team often. You are detailed-oriented and enjoy learning something new every day. Good communication skills are expected and the willingness to continue to learn will be a plus. You enjoy being a team player as well as working independently.
What is a typical day in this position?
Every day can differ in our department. One day you may be setting up multiple new awards and another day it could be slower. You will have the opportunity to become more familiar with our sponsors and the type of research that is being conducted by our Principal Investigators here at FSU by reviewing the award documents before the awards are set up. Our month end can be busy to ensure we process all the activity received that month from our pre-award team. You will attend QA team meetings every other week as well as our monthly full staff meetings. If you enjoy working in a larger department, you will be happy in SRA. In your free time there are always training opportunities that can be attended both virtually and in-person.
What can I expect in the first 60 – 90 days?
In the first few weeks you will meet your team and the entire SRA staff. Our IT team will make sure you are up and running usually by the end of your first day. Then you will be able to get acquainted with our website and our policies and procedures. You will be shadowing a team member over the first few months for part of your workday and spend the other part of your day completing the eSPEAR Certificate Series online training. Before you work in our production environment there will be a test environment available for you to practice in to get more familiar with our processes. You should be comfortable in your position within 6 months. Our staff will always be available to answer any questions you may have while you are learning your new position. This position may be eligible to participate in the Alternate Work Location Pilot Program here at FSU after your initial training period, which will allow for a hybrid work schedule.
