Position Summary

The Supervisor, Production Maintenance is responsible for directing the activities of Maintenance Mechanics across all shifts to ensure effective preventive and corrective maintenance of production equipment, minimizing downtime and loss of production capability.

The Supervisor will communicate with Production Supervision to determine priorities and notify Production Management of instances that will require escalation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, evaluate and develop production maintenance personnel.
  • Provide day to day direction to technical staff in assigned areas / shifts regarding assignments and projects.
  • Ensure optimal performance and reliability of equipment through deployment of production maintenance personnel. Maintain equipment in peak operating condition.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment performance improvement, develop alternate solutions to potential problems and develop and implement resolution plans.
  • Coordinate programs / projects with Manufacturing Engineering and all other appropriate functional departments within the plant.

Provide / manage resources for implementing key business unit projects.

  • Research and develop training and procedures, implement change control documentation as required for safety or equipment reliability.
  • Control costs by ensuring maintenance procedures are followed, eliminating unnecessary activities.
  • Conduct routine Safety Audits of areas, outlining potential safety concerns including work practices, equipment issues, PPE compliance, etc.
  • Model company values and support strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
  • This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).
  • Engage others; promote and participate in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with strong collaboration skills to partner with functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma required. Additional technical education preferred. Journeyman certification highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 6 years in a production maintenance function.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with automated and semi-automated production equipment.
  • Prior Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Utilization of problem-solving tools and techniques to resolve a wide variety of technical manufacturing issues.

Work Environment

  • Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and / or chemicals.
  • Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push / pull up to 80 lbs.
  • Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body.
  • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
