Overview

As our customer base grows, you will be on the front lines of our field engineering efforts for federal AI projects, with the opportunity to meaningfully impact revenue by partnering with our largest public sector customers and turning them into passionate Scale customers.

Our Field Engineers ensure customers' experiences with Scale's technology are seamless and optimized to build a successful, long-term partnership. Field Engineers collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations to guide customers through building production-grade data pipelines. This role requires understanding customer use-cases deeply and creating tooling and documentation to support scalable growth.

Field Engineers are specialists in Scale's products and codebase, with general technical knowledge of web development, APIs, and handling large data sets. They are strong relationship builders, effective project managers, and team players who are enjoyable to work with.

Responsibilities

You will :

• Implement end-to-end data integrations, syncing customer data to Scale's platform and back
• Collaborate with the customer's engineering teams to optimize data pipelines, influence API design, and input / output schemas
• Design, develop and maintain playbooks, internal tools, Scale's documentation, and SDKs to enable long-term customer success
• Partner with Software Engineers and Operations to remove technical hurdles, debug delivery issues, and own customer escalations
• Be accountable for the customer's technical experience throughout their time with Scale
• Work with AEs and PMs to identify customer-specific feature requests
• Develop technical domain expertise in Large Language Models, 2D Image Annotation, and API integrations
• Engage with customers at major events to evangelize Scale
• Have an active TS / SCI clearance

Ideally you are a software engineer generalist who enjoys direct client engagement, can interpret ambiguous requirements, and designs sustainable solutions in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams. This role sits at the intersection of customer delivery, product, and engineering, offering broad experience and exposure to both sides of the business.

San Francisco, New York, Seattle : $175,000 — $219,000 USD

Washington DC, Texas, Colorado : $157,000 — $197,000 USD

Hawaii / St. Louis : $131,000 — $164,000 USD
