Director of Community Engagement and Grant Management

Family ACCESS of Newton is a community-based nonprofit supporting families through early childhood education, counseling, and family support services. For over 100 years, the organization has served thousands of families, regardless of their economic status, from Newton and neighboring towns.

The word ACCESS is an acronym of the phrase "A Center for Comprehensive Education and Support Services", a phrase that clearly defines the organization's work in the community. Formerly known as Newton Community Service Center, our new name, specifically the word ACCESS, describes the impact of that work. It reminds us of the doors that open, and the rich journeys that result, when children and families have access to the very best education-based resources and programs.

Position Summary : The Director of Community Engagement and Grant Management is the primary administrator for all programs under Early Literacy Services (ELS) and Counseling and Consultations (CCS). She / He supervises and trains all coordinators, is responsible for monitoring all activities including hiring, program quality, budgets, reporting and for mentoring all staff. In addition, the Director works as an active member of the Agency-wide Leadership Team working closely with colleagues assuring that services are supported and well-integrated. She / He is actively involved in the strategic planning, growth of the agency and development of community programs.

Key Responsibilities :

• Plan, develop and oversee all aspects of the grant programs assigned to Early Literacy Services (Coordinated and Family Engagement Grant, ParentChild+ Grant and Young Parent Support Grant).
• Supervise Coordinators (of the CFCE Grant, ParentChild+ program and Young Parents Support Program; Direct, mentor, and support their development.
• Oversee outreach to potential families in need of services.
• Be actively involved in all communities served by Grants provided through Early Literacy Services, including attendance at key targeted community meetings.
• Plan and run in-service trainings that support delivery of service and program growth effectively.
• Support staff providing crisis intervention to families, as needed. When necessary, provide crisis intervention to families, as needed.
• Produce an accurate annual budget and monitor fiscal performance monthly.
• Be an active member of the agency-wide Leadership Team, supporting colleagues and assuring integration of ELS services, whenever possible.
• Represent ELS in all communities served by the Agency.
• Be an advocate for families in need of supportive services on a City, State and National level.
• Participate in and support fundraising efforts in support of ELS and Agency efforts.
• Oversee the writing and submission of the CFCE, ParentChild+ and Young Parents Support grants.
• Oversee all reporting, statistics and documentation of the grants held under the ELS umbrella.
• Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
• Direct Supervisor of the YPS grant.
