Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 10 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU / MS Float position requiring Epic proficiency and strong competency across all PCU and Med / Surg units. Responsibilities Work in a large hospital setting as a float RN across all PCU and Med / Surg units Typical patient ratios are 5 : 1 on PCU and 6 : 1 on Med / Surg, with possible flex up to 7 : 1 Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week, 6 : 45pm - 7 : 15am Frequent floating required, with assignments re-evaluated every four hours and possible 2-3 unit changes per shift Weekend requirement is either every other weekend or six weekend shifts within a six-week block Must work one major holiday per 13-week contract Epic experience is required for charting Responsible for delivering advanced care to a varied Med / Surg and stepdown patient population Must be comfortable with frequent changes in assignments and environments First-time travelers are welcome to apply Must provide all requested time off with application; Christmas requests cannot be accommodated A current driver’s license and social security card must be submitted for consideration Two professional references required Local candidates are accepted, subject to radius rule Requirements Active RN license (VA or Compact), or pending license if holding a single-state license from a non-compact state Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications Previous stepdown / PCU, cardiac, and telemetry experience required Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration Competence in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support (CPAP / BiPAP, nasal cannula, chest tubes such as Emerson / PleurEvac) Experience in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, titrating cardiac drips, and rapid response / code protocols Able to manage PCA and heparin protocols, IV insulin, endocrine / metabolic disorders, and pre / post cardiac cath patients Epic EMR experience required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624640.
