Job Profile Summary
The P&T People Center Compliance Analyst serves as a dedicated compliance resource within the People & Talent People Center team, ensuring that all HR processes align with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements. This role is responsible for owning and executing critical compliance-related activities, including unemployment claims, internal audits, document management, labor law poster adherence, employee immigration processes, and I-9 / E-Verify administration. By proactively monitoring compliance obligations and standardizing processes, the P&T People Center Compliance Analyst helps safeguard WGU against risk, supports consistent application of policies, and enables a seamless employee experience. As compliance needs evolve, this role will adapt to address emerging requirements, provide subject matter expertise, and partner across People & Talent functions to strengthen the P&T People Center's overall compliance framework.
Primary Responsibilities
- Leads the development, execution, and continuous improvement of compliance-related People Center processes.
- Serves as the primary compliance resource, interpreting policies, mitigating risks, and providing practical guidance to ensure consistent application across the organization.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Legal, People & Talent, and other stakeholders to align policies, training, and audits.
- Develops, delivers, and maintains compliance training materials and documentation.
- Prepares and submits required compliance reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Analyzes compliance data and report key metrics to leadership.
- Monitors changes in the legal and regulatory landscape; update internal policies and documentation accordingly.
- Manages I-9 and E-Verify compliance, including proactive internal audits and process improvements.
- Provides interpretation and guidance to employees to ensure consistent application of P&T policies and practices.
- Supports internal and external audits by providing accurate P&T documentation and data.
- Oversees the unemployment insurance claims process, assist with complex cases while ensuring accuracy through stakeholder collaboration.
- Handles sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity while building strong, collaborative relationships across the organization.
- Recommends process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery within assigned compliance functions.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related fieldExperience
5+ years of human resources experience, with a strong focus on compliance, employment law, or HR operations.In-depth knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR regulatory frameworks.Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday) and in Microsoft Office.Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with cross-functional internal teams and external stakeholders.Experience In Lieu Of Education
Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with case management systems (e.g., ServiceNow).Experience working within an HR Shared Services model.Familiarity with onboarding, I-9 compliance, labor laws, and unemployment claims handling.PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification preferred.
