Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Development Officer is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects giving at the $1,000 to $25,000 level.
The Development officer will manage relationships primarily with individuals and some corporate and foundation donors and prospects.
This includes conducting all solicitation and stewardship activities, such as written solicitations, face-to-face meetings, site visits, and information sharing on agency priorities which align to a donor / prospect’s interests.
This position currently has a hybrid work arrangement, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
Expected Outcomes
- Contribute to raising the agency’s annual philanthropic goal by securing new gifts and pledges in alignment with the agency’s greatest needs.
- Create and manage an annual schedule of solicitations and stewardship activities to secure funding, cultivate future gifts, and communicate impact of closed gifts.
- Collaborate with events, marketing, and program staff to tell the story of BakerRipley to advance fundraising
Essentials Functions
- Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects giving at the $1,000 to $25,000 level.
- Conducts all solicitation and stewardship activities, such as written solicitations, face-to-face meetings, site visits, and information sharing on agency priorities which align to a donor / prospect’s interests.
- Strategize, conceptualize, write, and submit LOIs, applications, and proposals as directed
- Proactively identify new prospects through digital and print media, demographic research, and other data mining strategies
- Prepare event agendas, briefings, tour schedules, and review mailing lists to engage donors and prospects
- Help drive response for Development priority events and initiatives such as the annual BakerRipley Experience
- Facilitate gift compliance by partnering with program staff, budget managers, and finance to meet the terms of gift agreements, including the development and timely submission of interim and final reports
- Prioritizes and meets project deadlines and ensures quick turnarounds in a fast-paced, evolving environment that demands frequent interaction with multiple colleagues across various departments throughout the process
- Stay up to date on fundraising best practices and agency priorities and programs
