The successful candidate will work closely with the Broad Institute’s rare disease community, as part of a new initiative called the Ladders to Cures (L2C) Accelerator and its collaborators.

L2C is committed to applying scalable technologies to gain new mechanistic insights and propel treatments for rare genetic diseases, offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in this field.

The successful candidate will be a valued member of an interdisciplinary team of computational scientists, bioinformaticians, geneticists, software engineers, web developers, and experimentalist collaborators.

The candidate will apply computational, statistical, and machine learning methods to curate, integrate, and interrogate proteogenomics data (genomics, proteomics, and clinical) at scale and develop tools for biological data-driven discoveries to ultimately inform multiple aspects of drug target identification and validation.

This role will require considerable knowledge of statistics, algorithm design, data analysis, and visualization. Role Expectations : Knowledge about computational modeling tools, primarily protein sciences and structural biology, molecular dynamics, and biophysics, interactome, and post-translational modifications, and preferably, genomics, transcriptomics, small-molecule, and clinical data Experience in mining and analyzing data, primarily from proteomics and small-molecule / drug discovery databases (PDB, AlphaFold, UniProt, ChEMBL, Pharos, DrugBank, PubChem), and preferably, genomic / transcriptomic databases (gnomAD, GTEx, ClinVar, ClinGen, GWASdb, Cancer genomics databases) Develop, apply, document, and maintain computational tools, bioinformatic APIs, and web portals Follow relevant scientific literature to ensure the use of optimal methods and understand emerging practices across the field Attend and present results at team meetings, plan projects, and experiments, and communicate results to collaborators Contribute to progress reports, publications, and presentations at scientific conferences Collaborate with Broad Institute computational scientists and non-experts Goal-oriented and passionate about contributing to drug discovery and life sciences.

Required skills : A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Computational Chemistry (focus : molecular dynamics, biophysics, and machine learning), Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Applied Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline Fast learner, analytical thinker, creative, "hands-on" team player.

Experience with computational analysis, machine learning, algorithm development, and statistics. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and scientific programming environment (such as Python, R, or MATLAB) Experience in integrating tools into web interfaces Strong communication skills and publication record A background in machine learning or biology is a plus.

Knowledge of genetic variants and variant interpretation is a plus. Knowledge of DepMap, GWAS, PheWAS, TWAS, Single Cell Portal, etc.

is a plus Institute / Group Culture : As a team member, you will collaborate with other scientists, engineers, web developers, and students in a collegial work environment emphasizing intellectual rigor, collective brainpower, out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and innovation our best asset.
