Physician Scheduler - Integrative Health
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Physician Scheduler is to schedule patients for a specific physician. This includes scheduling appointments, follow-ups, and rescheduling missed appointments.
Essential Job Functions
- Schedule appointments for patients to see physician, extender, labs, scans, etc.
- Confirm patient appointments.
- Maintain office schedules for the physicians and extenders.
- Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Receive and route messages and documents as needed.
- Greet patients, ascertain purpose of visit, and direct them to appropriate staff.
- Operate office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet, and other software applications as needed to do work assigned.
- Perform various clerical and administrative functions as needed.
- Transmit information or documents as needed, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must be able to multi-task and have a commitment to excellence in patient care.
- Must be sensitive to patients and their needs.
- Must be able to interact with a variety of people.
- Must be able to handle stress.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in written form.
Education / Experience
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least (1) year experience in a medical office environment required.
Working conditions
This position works in the scheduling department of a busy oncology / hematology clinic. Patient interaction is required.
Physical requirements
This position requires that the employee be able to sit at a computer for up to eight hours a day. Heavy phone usage is also required.
Direct reports
This is not a supervisory position.
