Senior Business Relationship Manager
The Senior Business Relationship Manager is responsible for expanding business member deposit and lending relationships, negotiating and originating new business loans and lines, monitoring business loan portfolio to preserve asset quality, participating in credit union and community events, and networking to develop new relationships for the credit union. Location : All GICU location - servicing in the state of Iowa. Hours : Monday-Friday 8am -5pm and nights and weekends as needed by our members.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Business Acquisition : Sources, develops and builds a business loan portfolio with existing and new business members, with a strong emphasis on CRE, CandI, Equipment Finance, and Practice Finance to achieve individual production goals for new loan volume, fee income, and deposit growth. Actively call on a maintained prospect list, centers of influence, and referral network to expand GICU's commercial footprint to achieve loan growth goals. Understands potential business opportunities and challenges, and targets prospective members well-suited to the credit union's desired audience (consistent with growth and loan quality goals). Negotiate loan structures and terms to optimize profitability while ensuring credit quality.
- Portfolio and Relationship Management : Proactively manages existing loan portfolio to maintain loan quality by monitoring financial performance, covenant compliance and collateral conditions. Maintains up-to-date credit files including loan documentation and current financial information and analysis. Manage and organically expand relationships within the assigned commercial portfolio, focusing on cross-selling treasury, deposit, and credit solutions. Proactively identify additional lending and product opportunities to deepen relationships. Actively works with current portfolio for referral sources to bring on new additional relationships. Responsible for collection of the portfolio if potential problems arise with assistance from the collections team as needed.
- Credit and Loan Origination : Accepts and processes applications for business loans annual reviews, renewals, etc., interviews loan applicants, collects and analyzes financial data to determine the general credit worthiness of the applicant and the merits of the specific loan request to make credit recommendations. Partner with credit analysts and underwriting teams to ensure accurate financial analysis and timely loan decisioning. Responsible for overall completeness of the credit memo for underwriting decisioning and personally writing certain parts of the narrative. Completes or directs loan documentation, closing, and funding while ensuring compliance with credit union policies and regulations.
- Community Engagement and Networking : Represent GICU and actively participate at community, business, industry and credit union sponsored events, and networking events to develop relationships for the credit union, build brand awareness and generate new business opportunities. Serve as a trusted advisor and advocate for local businesses and entrepreneurs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills :
Experience : Five years to eight years in commercial banking, business lending, or credit union commercial services with a proven track record in business development of similar or related experience.Education : (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).Interpersonal Skills : Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and / or training others is key at this level.
