00- $29.00 Per Hour Revised : 05.15.2024 Summary The Youth Center Coordinator oversees the daily operations and activities of the youth center, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for young people.

Responsibilities include planning and implementing programs, coordinating staff and volunteers, managing budgets, and building relationships with youth, families, and community partners.

The coordinator also plays a key role in developing and promoting youth-centered initiatives that support personal growth, social development, and educational enrichment.

This position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a passion for working with youth and a commitment to their well-being and success.

Essential Functions Design, implement, and evaluate a diverse range of programs and activities tailored to the needs and interests of youth participants.

Recruit, train, supervise, and support staff members and volunteers to ensure effective program delivery and a positive youth-centered environment.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the youth center, including maintenance, safety protocols, and equipment inventory.

Establish and nurture partnerships with schools, businesses, government agencies, and other community organizations to expand the reach and impact of youth center programs and services.

Seek feedback and input from community members, youth participants, and partners to inform program development, improve services, and foster a sense of ownership and collaboration within the community.

Establish rapport with youth participants, provide guidance and mentorship, and advocate for their needs and interests within the organization and the broader community.

Identify potential partners within the community, including schools, nonprofits, government agencies, and businesses, to collaborate on youth-focused initiatives.

Collect data, track outcomes, and prepare reports to assess program effectiveness, inform decision-making, and demonstrate impact to stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with organizational policies, program guidelines, and regulatory requirements, and maintain accurate records and documentation related to program operations and participant outcomes.

Identify the specific needs and requirements of the youth program or initiative that necessitate contractual agreements.

Ensure that contracts comply with all relevant legal regulations, policies, and procedures, and seeking legal review and approval when necessary.

Draft clear and comprehensive contract documents that accurately reflect the agreed-upon terms and conditions and obtaining signatures from all parties involved.

Communicate effectively with vendors, service providers, partners, and other stakeholders throughout the contract development process to address any questions, concerns, or modifications.

Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, youth development, or a related field and / or a minimum of 4 years of experience working with youth in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a community-based or youth-focused organization.

Demonstrates understanding of youth development principles, adolescent behavior, and best practices in youth programming.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and facilitate group discussions.

Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and database management software. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate program activities and events.

Supervisory Responsibilities Oversee a team of 2 to 4 employees at the youth center. Building and maintaining relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and local organizations to support youth programs, collaborate on initiatives, and enhance resources and services available to youth.

Providing guidance, direction, and support to staff members, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting teamwork and collaboration.

Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions) May be exposed to highly aggressive clients : must communicate with many sources including public paying agencies, courts, and outside community agencies.

Local automobile travel is required. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Sometimes noisy, loud, and disruptive clients.

Physical Requirements The ability to move around the youth center facility and various program spaces to oversee activities, interact with youth, and address any issues that arise.

Occasional lifting and carrying of supplies, equipment, or materials needed for program activities, events, or setup. Standing and Sitting : Extended periods of standing or sitting may be required during program delivery, meetings, or administrative tasks.

Interaction : The ability to engage in physical activities and sports with youth participants, as well as to provide hands-on support and assistance when needed.

Visual and Auditory Abilities : Clear vision and hearing to monitor youth behavior, ensure safety, and effectively communicate with participants, staff, and stakeholders.

Manual Dexterity : Proficiency in using office equipment, computers, and other tools necessary for administrative tasks, record-keeping, and program planning.

Stamina : The capacity to maintain energy and focus throughout the day, including during busy periods or special events that may involve extended hours or physical exertion.

Accommodation : The willingness and ability to accommodate the diverse needs and abilities of youth participants, including those with physical disabilities or other special requirements.

Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting (20 lbs.), and some reaching, bending, stooping, walking, squatting, listening, and typing.

A great portion of the day requires sitting, standing, carrying equipment / charts / documents, walking, reading, writing, and communicating or a combination of the above.

Mental Requirements This position will require the individual to be able to handle any / all the following : constant distractions, interruptions, uncontrollable changes in priorities / work schedules : be able to process information, think and conceptualize.
