Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in both on-premises and Azure / cloud environments to join our dynamic team.
- Responsible for managing and maintaining our SQL Server databases in both traditional on-premises infrastructure and cloud-based platforms.
- Ensuring the availability, performance, security, and scalability of our database systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support and optimize our applications.
Responsibilities :
- Design, implement, and maintain SQL Server databases in both on-premises and Azure / cloud environments, considering factors such as performance, scalability, security, and high availability.
- Perform database installation, configuration, and upgrade activities in both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for SQL Server databases, leveraging both on-premises solutions and cloud services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Azure Backup.
- Monitor and optimize database performance in both on-premises and cloud environments, analyzing query execution plans, identifying bottlenecks, and recommending and implementing performance tuning strategies.
- Proactively manage database security, including user access management, data encryption, and vulnerability assessments, following best practices for both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with development teams to assist in the design and optimization of database schema, indexes, and queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and storage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, such as connectivity problems, performance degradation, and data integrity concerns, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on business operations.
- Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in SQL Server, on-premises infrastructure, and cloud platforms (particularly Azure), and propose and implement improvements to enhance database performance, reliability, and security.
- Create and maintain database documentation, including data models, database schemas, and configuration details, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to support application deployments, upgrades, and integrations .
Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator (DBA), with hands-on experience in managing SQL Server databases in both on-premises and Azure / cloud environments.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server database administration, including database design, installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security.
- Strong understanding of on-premises infrastructure, as well as experience working with cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
- Familiarity with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Backup, and other Azure services relevant to database administration.
- Also, experience with TSQL, ETL, PowerShell; familiarity with VMWare to do some basic functionality for call coverage;
- Experience with hybrid environments, managing SQL Server databases that span on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in diverse environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified : Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified : Azure Solutions Architect Expert, are a plus.
- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with evolving technologies and industry trends related to on-premises and cloud-based database administration.
