STV has an immediate need in our Charlotte, NC office for a Transit / Roadway Engineer in our Transportation division. We are seeking for someone with extensive experience in both roadway and rail design (light rail, commuter rail, or freight rail design required) using Bentley OpenRoads / OpenRail software (preferred).

The successful candidate will :

  • Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects throughout the southeast
  • Support interdisciplinary projects, document preparation and production, assisting sub-consultants, monitoring budgets, schedules and quality
  • Design roadway and track alignments and profiles, prepare details and specifications, coordinate grading, drainage, traffic and other infrastructure and site work
  • Interact with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams
  • Design using MicroStation, OpenRoads / OpenRail Designer
  • Coordinate design development and assisting with technical direction to other design staff
  • Coordinate with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget
  • Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
  • Establish working relationships and interface with client technical staff and project managers
  • Mentor supporting junior engineering design staff

The ideal candidate is an individual who is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and possesses a vast understanding of transportation design principles.

The candidate will be designing independently working with junior staff members for successful project production and execution.

Responsibilities include :

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in all technical aspects of Roadway Design, Rail design (light rail, commuter rail, or freight rail design required)
  • Experience in using CADD software including MicroStation, OpenRoads / OpenRail
  • Familiarity with AASHTO Green Book, NCDOT Roadway Design Manual, AREMA, AMTRAK Spec 63, and TCRP 155 standards
  • Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction
  • Candidate should possess knowledge and experience with NC Department of Transportation and Local government design requirements

Required Skills :

  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Bentley Microstation, Geopak, OpenRoads / Rail
  • NC PE license is required

Compensation Range :

$99,966.00 - $133,287.00
