Mechanic Trailer Maintenance

POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible to ensure that all repairs are performed according to Company maintenance guidelines and DOT rules and regulations, in a timely and efficient manner.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Able to efficiently handle equipment repairs in an accurate, productive and safe manner.
• In the absence of a supervisor, ability to be self-directed. Perform VMF Garage team duties as required.
• Enforce acceptable garage sanitation standards.
• Verify that work orders are prepared properly.
• Assist VMF Garage team in their various tasks. Recommend and implement solutions to problems.
• Perform basic functions and help to ensure compliance with company and government rules and regulations by all department personnel and safety programs.
• Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.
• Ability to work well with others demonstrating to team members courtesy, dignity and respect.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Education Level

High School Diploma or GED.

Skills and Experiences

• Prefer working knowledge Volvo VN series tractors are desirable.
• Prefer working knowledge Thermo-King and Carrier reefers.
• Prefer knowledge Volvo Tech-Tool diagnostic program.
• Prefer working knowledge XRS.
• Certification in airbrakes.
• A / C Certification is desirable.
• Strong associate relations, interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills.
• Demonstrate computer proficiency in TINA.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS :

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

• Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
• Ability to stand, walk and work in close quarters and awkward positions for lengthy periods.
• Occasionally drive truck / tractor and 53-foot semi-trailer, operate heavy garage repair equipment and work on ladders.
• Incumbent will use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of the workday.
