We are seeking a highly motivated General Manager 5 – Food Services to oversee food operations at our facility located in Washington, DC. The General Manager will lead patient dining, retail, and catering operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, financial acumen, and experience managing in a unionized environment, with a passion for innovation and process improvement in healthcare food service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of patient meal services, retail dining, and catering across the hospital campus.
- Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, including collaboration with hospital executives and the C-suite.
- Lead and mentor staff to promote engagement, teamwork, and service excellence.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP and regulatory standards for food safety and quality.
- Drive process improvements, cost controls, and innovation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance to meet company and client goals.
- Ensure high levels of patient and guest satisfaction through service excellence and proactive issue resolution.
- Promote training, staff development, and a continuous improvement culture.
Required Qualifications (Must-Have)
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.5+ years of management experience in Food & Nutrition leadership within a healthcare environment.Proven experience managing in a unionized environment.Strong leadership and supervisory experience with a record of team engagement and performance improvement.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, especially in client-facing and C-suite settings.Proficiency in financial management, reporting, and computer systems.Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high standards of service quality.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in academic or teaching hospital settings.Demonstrated success in driving innovation and operational excellence.Advanced knowledge of compliance and safety standards in healthcare food services.Benefits
