Job Summary
Working within Immersive Design Systems (IDS), under the supervision of the Curriculum Development Manager, and in accordance with established professional and departmental standards, methods and models, plans, designs, and facilitates aspects of Training and Performance activities.
Works closely with Clinical Service Partners (CSP) to design and deliver direct simulation across multiple areas, as well as offer support to CSP educators across the Hospital broadly for ongoing skills development and quality assurance of courses.
Provides support for recurring activities, continuing education accreditation of courses, and IDS Faculty Development programs as required.
Provides support for other IDS activities as required / applicable.
The Training and Performance Specialist II will be responsible for :
- Designs, develops and delivers training and performance activities as assigned, including : needs assessments, stakeholder meetings, curriculum development using existing / standard and novel project protocols, facilitation, and quality assurance of existing courses.
- Grows areas of curriculum design / subject matter specialization, in consultation with Manager.
- Develops and maintains supportive relationships with clinical service partners (CSP) and simulation educators within units to enhance the development of simulation activities and quality assurance mechanisms Partners with Production Engineers and Development Engineers to identify appropriate applications of simulation technology consistent with specific and / or special needs of stakeholders.
- Assists with the design and delivery of faculty development programs and activities, including instructor workshops, refresher courses and one-on-one feedback to educators.
- Monitors Training and Performance program effectiveness, reviewing standard activity evaluations, modifying or adapting programs, in consultation with Manager as needed to ensure IDS offerings are performed according to established standards, guidelines, and instruction.
- Develops and maintains advancing knowledge of current simulation trends, practices, and techniques through participation in professional organizations, attendance at conferences, seminars, and other continuing education programs.
- Serves as a member of the IDS Program and interdisciplinary team.
- Supports and sometimes leads the execution of department programs and processes across IDS as needed.
- Communicates issues as they arise to the Manager and Director of Training and Performance
- Maintains collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues, contributes to the working group's achievement of goals, and helps foster a positive work environment.
To Qualify, you must have :
- 3 years of related experience and a Bachelor's Degree
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent communication skills, including an ability to lead cross functional teams and collaborate with key stakeholders
- Capable of demonstrating effective professional communication skills, including diplomacy, discretion and a customer service mindset.
- Intermediate knowledge of educational development theories and practice.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight as well as cohesively with a team.
- Ability to function in a dynamic environment subject to changes in schedules and priorities.
- Ability to balance multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work some evenings and / or weekends as well as occasional travel to present at conferences or meetings.
