The Payroll Clerk / Administrative Support provides critical payroll and administrative support for plant operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of hourly payroll while maintaining operational and accounting controls. This role reports to the Senior Plant Controller and supports approximately 750 hourly employees across the plant campus. Flexibility in work hours is required to meet payroll deadlines, which may include weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Payroll Processing & Backup (60%)
- Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly employees and contingent workforce.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Process payroll deductions, additional earnings, garnishments, and vendor setups.
- Track hourly attendance and assist employees with payroll inquiries.
- ssist with annual / periodic wage updates, maintaining spreadsheets for IS and HR.
2. Customer Support & Training (30%)
Serve as a point of contact for payroll questions from employees and supervisors.Develop and deliver payroll training for supervisors and employees, including paystub comprehension.ct as a subject matter expert for ad hoc payroll requests, providing insights and data support.ssist with testing and updates for payroll systems (e.g., S / 4).3. Administrative Support (10%)
Provide general administrative support to the plant campus, including purchasing and requisitioning for emergencies.pprove overtime for salaried personnel.Manage data tracking, SAP files, and training manuals (electronic and hard copy).Coordinate meetings, attendance, and related resources.Scope / Dimensions :
Supports approximately 750 hourly employees.Oversees production payroll for approximately 165 million pounds at the main plant and 50 million pounds at the secondary plant (2025 budget).Responsible for labor costs totaling approximately $80 million at the plant campus (2025 budget).Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Education : High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or equivalent preferred.Experience :Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
1-2 years of experience with automated time and attendance systems or general accounting preferred.Understanding of employee attendance practices (FMLA, STD, vacation, etc.) preferred.SAP experience preferred but not required.
