Position OverviewAveanna Education Services has openings for Long Term Certified Special Education Teachers for Waltham Public Schools in Waltham, MA.The open positions are in a public school for students ages grades K-12 with autism, developmental disabilities, and communication disorders.The Special Education eacher will create and maintain a superior academic environment by developing and implementing a classroom structure consistent with the needs of each student and the classroom in its entirety.Some responsibilities include : Developing and implementing lesson plansMeet and instruct classesWrite and implement IEPsInitiate student evaluations and document progressCreate an instructional environment for appropriate development of studentsCollaborate effectively with related-services staff to address the students’ needsEssential Job FunctionsDevelop and implement lesson plans and modify instruction to meet the individual needs of studentsProvide behavioral managementMonitor, evaluate and report on students' progressAttend and participate in meetingsRequirementsBachelor's degree and at least 3 months of related teaching experience (i.e. student teaching, internships, etc.)Valid state special education certificatePreferred experience working with students with a wide range of disabilitiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsPhysical DemandsMust be able to speak, write, read and understand EnglishMust be able to lift up to 50 poundsProlonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twistingMust be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistanceEnvironmentMust be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions.
