Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide advisory and technical services to management.

This position starts at a salary of $105,268.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $136,852.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

In this Supervisory Mission Support Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals analyzing and refining existing work methods and developing new methods and procedures.

Typical work assignments include :

  • Developing and prescribing procedures and techniques and furnishes policy guidance to subordinates, assigning and explaining work requirements to subordinate staff to achieve efficiency of services rendered while increasing productivity.
  • Identifying ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative services at the local level.
  • Providing representation for the office in dealings with vendors and organizations within the agency that have primary responsibility for these services.
  • Providing technical and administrative supervision to administrative staff, including guidance on procedures and techniques, policy, work requirements, and short-term goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Experience : You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as :

  • Assessing the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations or analyzing and resolving problems in the effectiveness and efficiency of administrative support and staff activities.
  • Devising new methods or procedures for accomplishing work to solve productivity problems.
  • Developing and delivering briefings, project papers status / staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.
  • Coordinating with other organization supervisors and peers to establish unit objectives, goals, priorities and deadlines and formulate plans to meet substantial changes in workload.
  • Resolving complaints and grievances and making recommendations for solution of those referred to the next higher organizational level.
