SCHEDULE : Full Time

TRAVEL REQUIRED : 50% - 75%

COMPENSATION : $57,361.00 to $119,842.00 base salary plus potential annual uncapped incentive based upon sales production.

Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America / Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

About Our Opportunity

Our Rural 1st Loan Officer is a sales position primarily responsible for building relationships with business contacts and customers in the consumer market segments.

Depending on experience, an individual may be hired as a senior level. Our Rural 1st Loan Officers use knowledge of the consumer marketplace, products and finance to fully understand our customer’s or prospect’s business and personal plans and then markets the Farm Credit Mid-America financial services that best meet the needs.

This role has the responsibility for originating credit to customers by assessing the request and obtaining business and financial information needed to determine the viability and profitability of the deal.

After initially screening for soundness, the Loan Officer partners with our analysts and underwriters for final decision.

Having a constant focus on customer relationships, Rural 1st Loan Officers partner with internal teams to serve the customer’s loan, lease, crop insurance and servicing needs.

How You Will Spend Your Time

Sales and Relationship Management

  • Develops and maintains significant professional presence that yields sales increasing our Association’s market share in the assigned territory.
  • Builds professional relationships with customers, prospective customers and influencers based on mutual trust and respect.
  • Gain understanding of customer goals, credit strengths and weaknesses to deliver value added / constructive financial information to the customer.
  • Determines and defines the appropriate customer interaction and coordinates the appropriate staff that may directly or indirectly be a part of the relationship to serve the customer’s loan and servicing needs
  • Communicates to the customer and to internal team members regarding the customer’s needs.
  • Introduces customers to the Association’s process and the retail service team that will support the process.
  • Represent and communicate our mission and values and abide by our conduct policy, security policy and confidentiality expectations.

Deliver Sound Credit

  • Gather and document customer financial information and application details, in compliance with lending requirements and in coordination with Rural 1st Processing Specialist
  • Interpret and evaluate financial information and ask appropriate follow-up and probing questions to determine the appropriate product or service.
  • Recommend loan terms, conditions, and collateral position consistent with the request and associated loan risks, and then set clear expectations with the customer, and document pertinent customer information in Relationship.
  • Communicate credit decisions, loan terms and conditions to the customer.

Service Portfolio

  • Manage the disbursement process in home loan construction projects
  • Partner with Country Home Loan Specialist- to complete servicing actions required for individual customer circumstances
  • Partner with Customer Support Specialist- to monitor the portfolio for timely identification and service loans that expose the association to risk.
  • Negotiate and communicate these options to the customer, and may partner with the Special Accounts Loan Officer for resolution.

Minimum Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business or related degree preferred. At least 1 year of successful experience, in trainee role or in a similar field.

Generally competent with routine customers who have basic product needs.

Mental & Physical Requirements

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds.

Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage.

Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
