Position Summary
The Coordinator of Residence Life Operations is responsible for the daily operations of the Residence Life Office and assists with the daily operations, supervision, management and programming for Residence Life.
This position will actively contribute towards furthering our Student Affairs Board of Trustee charges to strengthen UST's (a) student success efforts and (b) Catholic mission and faith integration efforts.
The Coordinator of Residence Life Operations reports to the Director of Residence Life and is appointed with the approval of the Assistant Dean of Students, the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students, and the President of the University.
Essential Responsibilities
Supervise the overall administration, organization, and daily operation of the Residence Life Office, which includes management of the office budget lines, and approval of invoices and expenses associated with office
Assist in the oversight of maintenance and in maintaining the overall appearance of Residence Life facilities via bi-weekly walk-throughs of on-campus housing that allow for follow-up on existing work orders, beautification of existing spaces, identification of under-used spaces and the proactive identification of work orders.
Coordinate with Facilities Operations and appropriate University offices and personnel to address needs as they arise.
Supervise the student workers assigned to the Residence Life
Ensure students are scheduled properly for adequate coverage, students are properly trained to perform their duties, provide students performance feedback, and address employee-related matters, in consultation with the Director of Residence Life, as
Supervise the Residence Life student marketing interns, which includes developing, implementing, and reporting on measures of success for ResLife marketing
Foster a community environment with opportunities for personal, spiritual, and academic growth and leadership development by operating from a student development framework.
Assist with the selection, training, and evaluation of the rest of Residence Life student leadership team, including active involvement with the Centralized Leadership
Provide support to the Director for management of the overall budgets for on-campus residence halls.
Assist with the development, implementation, and enforcement of housing policies and procedures, which includes annual review and revision, as needed, of the Residence Life policies and procedures and serving as a university conduct
Assist with the management and planning of RA events. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that events are logged on the appropriate systems (Presence, Ad Astra, etc) and ensuring that events are well advertised (via flyers, banners, social media, etc).
Participate, on a rotating basis, in an on-call rotation. On-call rotation is shared amongst all coordinators and assistant directors in Residence While on-call, must respond to and manage to all emergencies that occur in Residence Life, including but not limited to incidents involving suicide, Title IX, drug / alcohol use, etc.
This includes directing the work of student leaders, and working with University Partners such as UST Police, and Counseling Services.
Serve on University committees as needed and collaborate with Student Affairs offices, including attendance at major Campus Life events.
Participate in professional development through at least one of the following : University, department in-service programs, student affairs committees, conference attendance and involvement in professional associations, enrollment in a master's or doctoral program.
Perform other delegated responsibilities assigned by the Director of Residence Life, and / or the Assistant Dean of Campus Life.
Qualifi c ations
- Being a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and under no ecclesiastical restrictions is preferred, as is a familiarity with the doctrine of the Church.
- All candidates much demonstrate a willingness to support the teachings and doctrines of the Catholic Church; as such candidates must demonstrate an ability and commitment to articulating the University's Catholic mission and identity in an inviting and engaging manner.
- Bachelor's degree required; preference will be given to candidates with associated degrees (Student Affairs,
- Business, Education, Leadership, or similar fields of study.)
- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in university settings, Catholic student leadership, and / or management of teams.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple constituents. Some experience supervising other employees is preferred.
- Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
- Effective organization skills and the abilities to effectively multi-task.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and in writing.
- This position requires the incumbent to live on campus. A one-bedroom apartment (with utilities, electricity and Wifi), partial meal plan, and phone stipend will be provided.
This is a full-time, year-round, benefit-eligible position. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
