Release Manager

Bolingbrook, IL (Onsite from day 1)

Contract to hire

Position Summary : The Release Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases across development, testing, and production environments. This role ensures the timely delivery of high-quality releases aligned with business goals while minimizing disruption to operations.

Key Responsibilities :

Release Planning and Coordination

  • Develop and manage release schedules, identify dependencies and risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless release execution.
  • Align release plans with business priorities and stakeholder expectations.

Release Execution

  • Lead deployment activities across production and non-production environments.
  • Ensure all changes meet quality, compliance, and security standards.
  • Conduct release readiness assessments and provide post-release support.

    • Process Optimization

  • Continuously improve release processes and workflows.
  • Promote best practices in CI / CD, automation, and DevOps.
  • Maintain documentation for release policies and procedures.

    • Risk and Issue Management

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with releases.
  • Develop and implement rollback strategies for failed deployments.

    • Communication and Reporting

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for release-related matters.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on release status and challenges.
  • Facilitate post-release reviews to assess performance and drive improvements.

    • Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in release management.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and DevOps methodologies.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jenkins, Jira, Git, and Confluence.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

    • Preferred :

  • Experience with CI / CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Certifications in ITIL, PMP, or related frameworks.

    • Soft Skills :

  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Proactive and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
