Overview Purpose Statement / Position Summary : The Clinical Lab Scientist II performs a range of standard and / or technically demanding procedures in one or more of the Clinical Laboratory disciplines exercising initiative and independent judgment.

Communicates technical or general information to their manager, director, & medical staff. May provide instruction in the basic theory, technical skills and applications of laboratory test procedures.

Provides expertise and serves as a technical resource for Technicians. The CLS II functions as a licensed staff member performing duties approved by California Business and Professions Code, CLIA and other regulatory agencies.

Minimum Qualifications / Work Experience : 2 to 5 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 1 year in the area of Microbiology.

Proven experience in Molecular Microbiology. Proficient in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation. Excellent pipetting skills.

Strong knowledge of Excel. Ability to learn quickly and work effectively as part of a team. Excellent communication skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy in a sensitive PCR-based lab environment. Team player with a collaborative approach.

Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new techniques and technologies. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. Education / Licensure / Certifications : Bachelor's degree in biology or related science required.

Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License required. ASCP Board of Registry certification as Medical Technologist, or other specialty preferred.

Pay Scale Information $94,224.00-$162,656.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry.

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description.
