Job Description
The Environmental Services Technician II (EVS II) plays a key role in maintaining a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment within the healthcare facility. This position performs high-level, time-sensitive disinfectant cleaning and specialized floor care tasks in critical patient care areas. The EVS II ensures the highest standards of cleanliness while demonstrating professionalism, strong customer service, and adherence to departmental policies and safety standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Perform high-level, time-sensitive disinfectant cleaning in critical areas such as :
Isolation rooms
Operating and invasive procedure areasEmergency departmentDischarge / terminal cleaningExecute specialized floor and carpet care including :Stripping and refinishing floors
Extracting and disinfecting carpets and upholsterySpecialty cleaning projectsClean and sanitize patient rooms, corridors, offices, restrooms, and public areas using proper methods and equipment.Safely remove trash, regulated medical waste, and soiled linens; ensure proper handling and transport according to standards.Maintain janitor closets, ensure they remain organized, stocked, and secured.Utilize cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly, ensuring proper dilution and storage.Maintain working knowledge of department SOPs including :Specialized equipment operation
Quality control requirementsPreventive maintenance processesAssist with distribution, stocking, and storage of supplies.Participate in training of new team members and provide guidance to less experienced staff.Project professionalism through appearance, communication, and respectful interactions.Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring safe and high-quality cleaning standards.Required Skills & Experience
Ability to read, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations.Strong teamwork skills and flexibility to accommodate hospital scheduling needs.Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, and standing for long periods.Preferred Skills & Experience
Basic computer skills (email, online training modules).Previous experience in hospital or hospitality housekeeping.Experience operating cleaning equipment such as :Vacuums
ExtractorsRotorsBovac machinesPrior experience with specialized disinfecting procedures in healthcare settings.Education
Required : High School Diploma or GED.
