Job Summary

The Recycling Laborer is responsible for ensuring materials are properly disposed of, in accordance with federal regulation and contract guidelines.

Ensure that all classified materials maintain operational security and are shipped or destroyed using proper procedure. Also, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe work environment, while providing excellent customer service to the clients.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

Responsibilities include separating collected recyclable materials into established categories such as aluminum, glass, high grade white paper, corrugated paper, toner cartridges;

and preparing separated recyclables for shipment to the appropriate local recycler vendor.

Responsible for preparing for shipment or destroying classified waste to include sheets of plastics or Mylar film; film scrap;

typewriter ribbons; lithographic (map) paper; CDs; DVDs; hard drives; circuit boards; and various types of paper materials.

Operate large capacity industrial machinery such as a paper shredder, paper / cardboard baler, paper / CD / DVD / hard drive destructor / disintegrators, degausser, SSD destructor, compactor and all destruction equipment.

Manage relationship and communication with equipment companies to ensure accurate and timely procurement of all materials.

Additional Responsibilities

Manage inventory tracking and reporting of Microsoft licensing.

Ensure the efficient organization of equipment within the warehouse.

Ensure proper re-packing of equipment to be sent to customers.

Accurately track all incoming and outgoing inventory.

Clean, inspect or lubricate recyclable collection equipment or perform routine maintenance or minor repairs on recycling equipment.

Collect and sort recyclable construction materials, such as concrete, drywall, plastics, or wood, into containers.

Deposit recoverable materials into chutes or place materials on conveyor belts. Clean materials, such as metals, according to recycling requirements.

Provide backup for mailroom, warehouse, and security department as needed.

Potential to work nights and weekends, including over-time.

Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications : Education, Experience and Certification(s)

High School diploma or state certified equivalent required.

1-2 years of direct experience required.

Valid driver's license and / or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / SCI government security clearance with polygraph is required

Ability to obtain a Class B CDL preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be able to work with people internally and externally at all levels of an organization.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software.

Excellent customer service.

Punctual-on-time, ready to work at scheduled time.

Knowledge of electric pallet jack and forklifts.

Supervision Received

The incumbent normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and receives general instructions on new assignments.
