Job Description : As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other school staff.

Your responsibilities will include :

• Providing interpreting services during classroom instruction, small group activities, and individual sessions to ensure students' access to educational content.
• Facilitating communication between students, teachers, and other school personnel by interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa.
• Adhering to professional standards and ethical guidelines for interpreting, including maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.
• Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to support students' academic and social-emotional success.
• Participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and providing input on students' communication and language goals.
• Assisting with the development and implementation of accommodations and modifications to support students' access to the curriculum.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Education, or a related field.
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification) preferred.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and fluency in English.
• Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students and collaborate effectively with school staff.
• Knowledge of deaf culture, educational principles, and best practices for supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
