The Oncology Service in Leesburg, VA is Seeking a Full-Time, Experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to Join Our Team

The Oncology Service (TOS) is a multi-facility small animal oncology practice. At TOS we believe that the diagnosis of cancer in a pet is not the end but rather the beginning of an opportunity to identify solutions that can improve that pet's quality of life while maximizing the time they have with their families.

Whether the diagnosis carries a potentially curative prognosis or a much more guarded one, we are here to help.

We are looking for an LVT to fill the role of Anesthesia Technician in our Radiation Oncology department. The ideal candidate should be direct, friendly, organized, resilient and flexible, and enjoy working with cats and dogs.

Customer service, computer and multi-tasking skills are essential. Please be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and with taking direction from both doctors and fellow team members.

You must be safety conscious and comfortable working with anesthesia. We are very detail- and safety-oriented, you should be as well.

Duties include but are not limited to :

• Assisting with the efficiency of the oncologist by anticipating the doctor's needs and providing exceptional and compassionate patient care.
• Acquiring accurate patient histories, recordkeeping and invoicing, and client communication and education as directed by the veterinarian.
• Flawless IV catheter placement for anesthetic use.
• Administration of induction agents as well as monitoring and recovery of general anesthesia / sedation for radiation treatment patients.
• CPR certification and previous use of ventilator preferred but not required- training provided.
• Controlled drug log management.
• Troubleshoot anesthesia complications and administer needed medications under the guidance of the veterinarian.
• Obtaining blood samples.
• Utilizing Idexx in-house lab equipment to run patient lab work.

Qualifications and Skills

• Licensed Veterinary Technicians only. Valid Virginia licensure required
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a LVT required
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Fundamental knowledge of windows-based computer programs.
• Ability to recognize and seek guidance in all client-related cases where protocol does not apply
• Need to have the ability to remain professional and inviting even under stressful and emotional situations.

Compensation :

• Salary commensurate with experience; $30.00 - $40.00 / hour.
• SIGNING BONUS of $7,000 ($10,000 with 1+ year of Oncology LVT experience)
