Payroll Manager
Position Summary :
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for payroll functions of the organization, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a combination of strong payroll, management and interpersonal skills.
This position will utilize a cloud-based payroll system to process bi-weekly payroll for 2000+ employees in multiple legal entities.
This position will manage and perform a variety of payroll process requiring a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities :
The Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, in compliance with government regulations and guidelines and assess the accuracy and validity of information
Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department
Oversees the daily workflow of the department
Provides constructive and timely performance feedback
Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures
Prepare, review and edit documents, correct errors, and balance payroll for each pay period
Process and oversee bi-weekly payrolls for multiple legal entities
Verify salary adjustments, garnishments, and retroactive pay for all employees
Maintain payroll policies and procedures and work collaboratively with Operations and HR
Respond timely to employee inquiries on all payroll questions
Coordinate year-end tax filings
Ensure accuracy of year-end reconciliation and W-2 reporting
Assist HR and Operations with internal policies and process documents for payroll. This documentation should include but is not limited to, overtime process, wage increases, new employees, employee data changes
Prepare monthly commission calculations and accruals
Prepare government reporting
Maintain knowledge of regulatory payroll changes
Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality by adhering to legal and ethical standards
Performs other duties as assigned
Manages complex payroll matters where analysis of issues, data and process require advanced specialist knowledge and in-depth industry and technical knowledge
Leads efforts to improve processes that result in enhanced end user experience
Required Qualifications :
Minimum 7+ years of previous payroll experience
Prior management experience
Knowledge in year-end tax reporting and 401k / Benefits deductions
Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal controls, compliance, commissions calculations and payroll taxes
Knowledge of current payroll processing laws and regulations
Ability to work and function independently as a self-directed leader of multiple initiatives and team members and to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Experienced in researching and finding solutions to technical payroll, tax, and systems related issues
Must have a basic understanding of accounting principles related to payroll and general ledger
Must understand the relationship between payroll and other enterprise areas, and exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to present and discuss payroll related topics and information with management, peers and other groups or individuals

Detail oriented, team player with a desire for continuous improvement
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Excellent listening and communication skills (written and verbal)

Advanced level experience with Microsoft Excel, including xlookup / vlookup and pivot tables
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively plan, set priorities, adapt to changing priorities, troubleshoot and manage several complex projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines
Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships and effectively collaborate with key internal teams such as HRIS, benefits, legal, IT, finance, project teams and external stakeholders
Reacts calmly and effectively in stressful situations, and demonstrates absolute integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree preferred
CPP preferred
Proficient with cloud-based payroll system - Paycom Software experience is a plus
Experience with payroll software implementation is a plus
Multi-State Payroll Processing preferred - California experience is a plus
Experience at a large growth company a plus
