The Lead Design Consultant is responsible for providing our guests with exceptional service by meeting their individual needs and expectations, as well as serving as a Frontgate Ambassador by promoting the philosophy and values of the brand.
This role will focus on creating a unique and exciting experience for our guests that will inspire them to creatively express themselves in their home and make it easy for them to discover products that best suit the way they entertain and live.
The Lead Design Consultant will assist the store in achieving its daily, monthly and annual sales and service goals. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering positive and effective communication to our guests and team members, while contributing to the efficiency of store operations.
The Lead Design Consultant will lead the team by example, providing exemplary guest experience by asking each guest questions to determine needs and engaging the guest with product knowledge, suggesting items to fit the guest’s immediate needs and recommending additional items / services that will complement the guest’s desires.
The Lead Design Consultant is expected to deliver first-class service, assisting in creating an exceptional experience to each guest.
You will have a passion for design and home furnishings and lead a cross-functional team focused on strategy and execution.
The Lead Design Consultant must have a keen eye for design and unmatched attention to detail and convey this through creating a branded, luxury guest experience.
This role requires you to be a creative and imaginative thinker, with the ability to align with the Frontgate aesthetic and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
You will always stay focused on top priorities, with a clear understanding that our guests are number one. This position directly reports into the Assistant Store Manager of Sales.
Lead Design Consultant Primary Responsibilities
- Exemplify the Ultimate Concierge mindset; be passionate about providing exceptional service and understand how to effectively manage issue resolution in a timely manner.
- Serve as the first point of contact should a difficult guest issue arise; empower and coach the sales staff how to address difficult issues.
- Coordinate logistics associated with in-store events, educational workshops and in-home delivery services.
- Consistently achieve or exceed weekly, monthly and quarterly store sales goals while enhancing and developing the business.
- Act as a role model, providing an exceptional guest experience by greeting, listening to and exceeding the guests’ needs.
- Understand the design industry and our Design Services (DS) business acumen.
- Coordinate needs and present solutions and alternatives to individual guests who are seeking design expertise. This encounter should culminate in sales growth within the market.
- Provide design expertise for scheduled appointments, for virtual appointments and during on-demand design time.
- Demonstrate strong product knowledge as well as being able to coach and train the sales staff
- Attract new clients by acting as a Brand Ambassador while assisting the ASM with networking within the community.
- Drive and exceed store KPI goals, by ensuring the highest level of guest service and quality of sales and by maintaining a strong visible floor presence to support the team.
- Maintain 90% of the guest email capture, for the purposes of connecting with the guest, building relationships and personalizing future guest interaction.
- Maintain an active, accurate, organized client book, contacting guests regularly and providing appropriate follow-up on all sales or guest requests.
- Assist guests with advice on general trends in the home furnishing world and developments in the luxury home market while showing passion for luxury products.
- Work as a team player and partner with fellow colleagues; foster open and constructive communication to ensure a consistently exceptional experience and contribute to a positive working environment.
- Assist the Visual Lead in upholding the visual display of all products in accordance with company visual standards.
- Assist the Receiving Lead in the daily operations of the store by maintaining an organized stock room.
- Train and motivate associates to achieve maximum sales productivity and ensure that sales plans are achieved.
- Be proactive in Loss Prevention, and work with store management to address Loss Prevention concerns, while adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Support and execute directives from Corporate Leadership, GM and ASM to ensure that information is properly communicated to the store team and that all deliverables are completed within specified deadlines.
- Ensure that the guest is the primary focus and all non-selling tasks are secondary.
- Be extremely organized with a strong attention to detail, as well as be willing to go above and beyond for our guests.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Assist with Managerial duties such as opening and closing the store, and basic register functions. Serve as the Guest Experience Leader (GEL) and perform any other operational task as needed.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and training for Team Members’ productivity and performance.
- Serve as the GEL to provide leadership and direction to Team Members; ensure the team understands the daily financial targets and matrix goals.
- Drive the guest experience and ensure resolution of guest issues.
- Ensure store meets visual, replenishment, cleanliness, safety and back-of-house standards during GEL shifts.
- Assist in holding Team Members accountable for adhering to all company and in-store policies and procedures.
- Assist in providing our Team Members expert coaching and training, in selling, product knowledge, visual standards and how to provide an overall exceptional guest experience.
- Communicate with the General Manager and / or ASM of Sales regarding all employee relations, day-to-day operations and any compliance related matters and to set goals for personal skill development.
- Work with store management to train staff on selling procedures to help achieve sales goals.
- Work with ASM of Sales on managing delivery costs, vendor expenses related to events, and in-store gifts with purchase.
- Provide additional leadership support as needed.
Achieve Sales and Profitability Targets
- Build positive working relationships with Corporate Leadership, GM and ASM of Sales to clarify priorities and share business insights and best practices.
- Responsible for maximizing sales through assisting guests in the selection and purchase of merchandise while following all company policies and procedures.
- Assess store metrics and team member behaviors to identify strengths and opportunities to maximize store results.
- Responsible for floor leadership activities to drive sales, while maintaining extraordinary guest service and visual presentation.
- Manage controllable expenses to company guidelines and ensure overall profitability targets are met or exceeded.
