CDL Laborer

Primary Function : The CDL Driver will be responsible for driving needed vehicles and equipment to and from project sites, as well as working on job sites.

A Class A or B CDL license is required. This position requires extensive travel and you may be away from home for 60 to 90 days.*

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Assist with getting materials to crew members who are placing, removing, or maintaining piping underneath bridges.
• Perform inspection and remediation of pipe, pipe coatings, and hangers.
• Work with bridge access equipment and bridge utility systems.
• Drive and operate vehicles such as an Aspen, Hydra Platform, and Snoopers as needed at project sites.
• Drive company vehicles to transport materials and / or equipment to crew members who are placing, removing, and / or maintaining piping underneath bridges.
• Mandatory DOT reporting log in / out to record movement of vehicle.
• Care for and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure quality of work.
• Perform duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

• Proficient in understanding construction plans and specifications.
• Proficient with Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Basic math skills to assist with measurements and computations.
• Ability to interpret and implement company mandated safety policies.
• Ability to manage, plan, schedule, and undertake work safely, independently, and professionally.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, plans and specifications and to compare them with various aspects of progress, to detect errors.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, clients, property owners.
• Ability to work independently and to multitask.
• Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in pressure situations.
• Self-starter with ability to set goals and tasks with strong leadership skills.
• Ability to travel and work at various job sites throughout the United States for various durations approximately 90% of the time.
• Ability to take and pass Operator Qualification (OQ) covered tasks if needed.

Education and Experience :

• High School Diploma / GED is required.
• Completion of a vocational program is preferred.
• Previous experience as a skilled laborer in bridge construction, repair, and maintenance is preferred.
• Class A or B CDL license is required.

Additional :

Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and maintain vehicle insurance as required.

Physical Demands :

This position performs duties out-of-doors in changing environments, exposure to adverse weather, and traversing rugged conditions.

• Extensive physical exertion, such as bending and twisting, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, and / or carrying equipment of materials as needed.
• May require standing for long periods of time
• Work from varying heights and, at times, over water.
• Drive company vehicles to transport materials and / or equipment.
• Lift items over 50 pounds with or without the use of mechanical aids.
• Use of precision or semi-precision tools.
