Associate Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) Scientist

Position Description : Empirico, a biotechnology company that combines unmatched expertise in human genetics-driven target discovery with world-class capabilities in siRNA drug discovery, is looking for a talented Laboratory Animal Research (LAR) professional to support our vivarium operations.

Responsibilities : Your responsibilities will include contributing to daily vivarium activities and operations. You will be expected to

• Perform daily tasks related to animal care, ensuring humane treatment of animals, including husbandry, health monitoring, and administering medications
• Perform experimental procedures, collect samples and experimental data, and accurately maintain records
• Collaborate with researchers and staff to design and execute experiments, prepare animal models, and analyze data
• Assist in developing and implementing SOPs for animal care, experimental protocols, and safety guidelines
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory and animal housing areas, following biosafety and animal welfare protocols
• Participate in training programs to stay current with advancements in animal research and welfare standardsEducation and Experience Requirements :
• Associate’s degree in Animal Science or a related discipline preferred
• 2+ years of vivarium experience with responsibility for animal husbandry is required
• Applicants must have authorization to work in the U.S.Skills Requirements :
• Experience in rodent handling and proficiency with in vivo procedures, injections, blood draws, data collection, and analysis are required
• Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to apply relevant scientific concepts and terminology
• Affinity for animals and respect for their welfare is essential
• Critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic team environment
• Self-motivated with a commitment to quality and safety
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with general computer literacyWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements :
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Manual dexterity required for lab work
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as neededThe estimated base salary range for this role is $50,000 to $70,000.

Individual compensation decisions will be based on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties / requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
