Pride Health is hiring for a Financial Counsellor to support our client's healthcare organization in Milwaukee, WI ! 6-month contract with the possibility of hiring on once contract is complete.
Schedule
Monday Monday Friday (8 : 30am - 5 : 00pm)
1 position - 7 / 70 Monday Sunday (7 : 00am - 5 : 30p,), alternating weeks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assess patient financial needs, assist patients, and collect deposits according to hospital billing and collection policy.
- Screen patients and assist with applications for applicable governmental programs, health insurance exchange, and / or financial assistance program.
- Stress customer service and positive interpersonal relations while collaborating with various departments.
- Initiate timely account resolution activities for self-pay patients or those claiming financial hardship.
- Monitor Financial Counsellor work queues to ensure completion of initial financial activities and timely addressing of account balances.
- Update patient accounting system and address patient account problems according to policies / procedures.
- Counsel patients through application and eligibility process with relevant agencies.
- Assist patients with Financial Assistance application process.
- Collect patient deposits based on ability to pay and urgency of medical need.
- Provide and update cost estimates to staff and patients.
- Communicate with relevant departments and physicians regarding unresolved financial problems.
- Enforce hospital patient accounting and compliance processes.
- Cross train and provide backup coverage for Financial Counsellor positions.
- Assist patients during open enrolment period to apply for health plans.
- Adhere to document storage & destruction policies.
- Adhere to state and federal regulations and hospital policies pertaining to Certified Application Counsellor responsibilities.
- Stay updated on regulatory updates and policy / procedure changes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, case management, healthcare administration, business administration, or another related field is preferred.
- One year of experience in healthcare / revenue cycle functions (or other business office), case management, or social work is required.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and other software programs is preferred. Experience using Epic in a healthcare environment is preferred.
