Senior Center Activities Coordinator
The Senior Center Activities Coordinator at the Elder's Building is responsible for developing and overseeing a comprehensive program of recreational and cultural activities for elder community members. This role requires a deep commitment to enhancing the well-being of elders, promoting cultural engagement, and fostering a sense of community.
Major tasks and responsibilities include :
- Planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing a variety of community and human service programs events for senior citizens in the Muckleshoot Tribal community.
- Driving a commercial vehicle with air brakes.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Planning and coordinating travel arrangements.
- Administering medications while on trips or in case of emergency.
- Organizing and supervising classes, workshops, and activities for senior adults.
- Surveying the interests and needs of seniors in the community; relaying this information to program management to assist in program development.
- Preparing for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, newsletters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding senior programs.
- Responding, in person or on the telephone, to inquiries about senior services, events, and activities.
- Providing information and referral services for a variety of social services available to senior citizens within the community.
- Driving a van to provide transportation services for seniors for field trips and other excursions.
- Preparing and maintaining related records and other documents, as required.
Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
Education, experience, and training for position :
Associate's degree in recreation, geriatrics, social services, or a closely related field. Three (3) years of combined relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of the Associate's degree. One (1) year of experience working with seniors. A valid Washington State commercial driver's license (CDL). First Aid and CPR certification are required at time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
