Job Description
Summary : Perform activities concerned with maintenance of equipment and machinery in industrial plant by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :
- Repairs and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
- Performs monthly inspections on all production equipment and replacement parts.
- Confers with department managers to coordinate monthly inspections.
- Must have a valid driver’s license to be able to drive to different locations within the Port.
- Observes and inspects mechanical devices in operation may consist of listening to equipment in operation to determine mechanical needing adjusted or replaced some disassembly is required to access certain devises needing to be observed mechanical skills are required in repairing mechanical equipment.
- Examines form and integrity of parts to detect imperfections, inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements tests machinery and equipment listens for unusual sounds from machinery or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation with supervisor or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Performs preventive maintenance on all types of equipment cleans lubricates and makes required adjustments as required.
- Will perform building maintenance strong mechanical background and some carpentry skills needed.
- Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on–site, ability to work overtime.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job requires has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematic drawing for pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
