Job Description :
Oversees activities of the accounting team for grants and manages accounting staff. Responsible for posting and reconciling all accounting records for grants Community Health Center Inc and related affiliates.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage grants accounting functions and staffDevelop and maintain grant policies and procedures for grant accounting and fiscal reportingTrain and oversee the work of grants accountants to ensure compliance with grants policies, procedures, and regulations and accurate and timely completion of tasksPrepare and analyze reports about grant portfolio to identify issues,Oversee the quality of accounting tasks for all grants including the monthly closing process, required financial reporting for funders, year-end audit, and other related tasks
- Maintain, analyze, and report on general ledger and accounting records for all grants.Maintain and update the organization’s financial records to include payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, and revenue for grantsReconcile grant accounts receivable on a monthly basis.Ensure accurate posting of grant reclassification journal entriesAccurately compile data and create schedules and spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.Analyze and report on general ledger account activity for accuracy and for variances from budget for grantsSupport annual audits, including State and Federal single auditsSupport indirect cost and fringe benefit rate negotiationsAssist with routine reporting and special projects.Ensure accurate and timely monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including independently completed, including : research, analysis and resolution of discrepanciesidentification of trendsanalysis of expected and unexpected results, andrecommendations of modifications needed in operational processes, procedures and specificationsCollaborates with Finance staff to ensure proper accounting of grant revenue and expenses within the MWHS Consolidated company and its affiliates, including monthly drawdowns and sponsor invoicing.Analyzes and reports on general ledger account activity for variances from budget.
- Directly support portion of grants portfolioOn a timely basis, accurately prepare and submit monthly journal entries for grantsPrepare and submit monthly journal entries for the general ledger to complete the monthly closing process and prepare financial reports for a portion of the portfolio of grants.
- Support budget planning for grant applications as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or business, finance); CPA or having worked in a public accounting environment highly preferred. Minimum 5 years’ experience with grant accounting Minimum 5 years management experience in financial operations Experience developing and training of finance and accounting staff At least three years of exempt level accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare services environment Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships within finance and other departments Expert level computer skills in Finance applications, including, Excel and Access; Solid skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Workday experience preferred Strong management, communication and analytical skills Solid interpersonal skills essential Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving skills and the ability to meet regular and multiple deadlines. Prior demonstrated skills to set priorities and to handle multiple assignments Attention to detail and accuracy
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Minimal. Works with computers and on telephone.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICIATIONS
Must possess excellent oral communication skills, telephone skills, and good written skills. Some writing is required : general correspondence, interoffice communication.
