Position Overview
The Interior Designer reports to the Director of Interior Design. This individual assists in the production of interior architectural design strategies, programming, development, and the oversight of design intent during the Design Development, Construction Document, and Construction Administration phases.
Functions of Position
Responsible for creative concepts, project developments, and designs for all phases of a project including client
interface, code evaluation, design documentation, project planning, material sourcing, the production of "mood"
boards, samples boards, and finished selections. Assisting the Director of Interior Design in preparing client presentations, meeting environment preparations, and the overall setup in maintaining, growing, and organizing the resource library and industry contacts. Handling document production for CD's as well as project coordination with various consultants, city officials, and CA throughout the life of the project.
Required Attributes
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design is required
- A minimum of two years experience required post graduate
- NCIDQ Certification preferred
- Thorough knowledge of local material resources and current pricing
- The ability to mentor junior design staff
- Strong communication and time-management skills
- The ability to multi-task, remain organized and be self-motivated
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Sketchup, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
- Experience with space planning, design development, document production, and construction administration and rendering skills a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of CD's, contract administration, building systems, codes and ADA Requirements
- A strong eagerness to learn and excel in current / future positions.
Reporting
The Interior Designer will report to the Director of Interior Design and each Project Manager as needed, and to the Firm Principal regarding operational duties, meetings, etc.
Evaluation
Annual review by the Director of Interior Design to include peer input. Review will be based on interactions and engagement with the TEAM, evidence of how you demonstrate company values, ability to manage workload and competency in the execution of your duties. A positive attitude, interactions with clients, and team spirit will have a lot to do with the overall review.
