  • Identify policy exceptions, documentation deficiencies, compliance concerns, and appropriate mitigating factors.
  • Prepare clear, concise, accurate, and well-supported credit presentations, recommendations, and loan approval packages.
  • Monitor borrower financial performance, covenant compliance, approval conditions, and overall credit quality.
  • Spread and analyze business and personal financial statements and tax returns in accordance with bank guidelines.
  • Calculate and verify covenant compliance and communicate exceptions or violations to lending officers for resolution.
  • Determine appropriate risk ratings and identify emerging risks within credit relationships.
  • Support annual reviews, credit renewals, portfolio monitoring, and ongoing risk assessment activities.
  • Identify signs of portfolio deterioration and recommend corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of economic, industry, and market trends affecting commercial borrowers.
  • Partner closely with Commercial Bankers, Relationship Managers, Associate Relationship Managers, Credit Administration, and other team members throughout the credit lifecycle.
  • May assist production staff with deal structuring and provide guidance during pre-flight reviews of complex transactions.
  • Review and clarify financial information necessary for underwriting and portfolio management.
  • May participate in customer and prospect conference calls as appropriate to support credit analysis, relationship development, and borrower discussions.
  • Serve as a resource for underwriting standards to all staff.
  • Contribute to ongoing credit training, underwriting consistency, and best practices.
  • Ensure all recommendations comply with RiverBank Loan Policy, regulatory requirements, credit standards, and safe-and-sound banking practices.
  • Maintain thorough and complete documentation supporting underwriting conclusions.
  • Support loan review, audits, examinations, internal reviews, and special credit projects as needed.
  • Complete required training and remain current on regulatory, economic, and industry developments.
  • Support consistent portfolio governance and credit quality initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Education, Training and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant commercial banking experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of commercial credit underwriting, credit analysis, or related commercial banking experience.
  • Demonstrated experience underwriting C&I credit facilities, including operating lines, equipment loans, working capital facilities, commercial term debt, and cash-flow transactions.
  • Experience with commercial real estate, owner-occupied lending, and community banking preferred.
  • Prior experience with SBA underwriting and Loan Programs preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, commercial financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and global debt service analysis.

  • Experience spreading business and personal financial statements and tax returns using Buker's Taxanalysis or a comparable financial spreading platform.
  • Knowledge of commercial loan structures, collateral analysis, covenant compliance, guarantor evaluation, and credit risk assessment.
  • Ability to interpret tax returns, borrowing base reports, appraisals, business valuations, legal entity structures, and loan documentation.
  • Working knowledge of banking regulations, credit administration practices, credit policies, and loan documentation requirements.
  • Exceptional analytical, written credit presentation, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while balancing client service with prudent risk management.
