Job descriptionProduces machined parts by setting up and operating a Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Mill and Electro Discharge Machines (EDM). Plans machining operations by studying production schedule and setup sheets. Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock. Runs Mill and EDMs by loading appropriate materials and running the correct programs. Maintains sharp tools and adequate stock for removal in fixtures, changes as needed. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. Manages shipments of finished tooling to secondary processes and manufacturing sites. Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. Participates in continuous improvement by thinking of ways to perform work safer, faster, or with better quality. Performs 6S activities and improvements as required Works with other team members and participates in team events and meetings. Other duties as assigned CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM SUCCESS - Actively participates as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals. QUALITY ORIENTATION - Demonstrates ability to accomplish tasks by considering all areas involved no matter how small. Showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks; being watchful over a period of time. SAFETY AWARENESS - Demonstrates ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety; upholding safety standards. WORK STANDARDS - Sets high standards of performance for self and others; assumes responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-imposes standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed. High School Diploma or GED, preferred but not required. At least one year of experience in CNC manufacturing highly preferred (e.g. equipment setup / operation / changeover, use of measurement tools and knowledge of preventive maintenance) Willing to work assigned shift with minimal overtime as needed Demonstrated mechanical aptitude Ability to understand basic machinery Strong attention to detail Ability to recognize and identify parts, problems, and offer resolution Ability to read blueprints / specification sheets and follow instructions Comfortable using a computer to interface with machines and office programs including email. Successfully complete on-the-job training (machine setup, running programs, use of inspection tools) Ability to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds

Our products include wood to wood fastening systems (Paslode), structural wood fasteners (GRK Fasteners™), concrete anchoring systems (Tapcon®, Red Head®, Ramset®), underlayment screws (Rock-On®, Backer-On®), self-drilling screws (Teks®) and drywall anchoring systems (E-Z Ancor®). Position Summary :
Reporting to the Engineering Manager within ITW's Residential & Renovation Division, the Machine Operator will be responsible for the setup, operation, and preventive maintenance of equipment to produce tooling according to quality specifications in an efficient and safe manner. This role is located onsite at the organization in Lake Forest, IL.

Work Environment :
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. The noise level in the work environment (office) is usually low, but much higher when exposed to the manufacturing areas. Physical Demands :
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The hourly base pay for this position ranges from $25.00 to $39.00, depending on experience level. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
