Description

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients spanning pediatric, adult, and senior populations utilizing standardized assessments alongside observational techniques.
  • Create tailored treatment plans pinpointing both short-term objectives and long-term communication, cognitive or swallowing challenges.
  • Provide personalized speech therapy sessions, concentrating on communication, language acquisition, fluency issues, voice modulation, and swallowing rehabilitation.
  • Work in partnership with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, caregivers, and family members to develop integrated care approaches.
  • Deliver educational resources to patients and families to encourage progress during and after therapy sessions.
  • Participate in occasional inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions, ensuring a seamless care transition throughout treatment.
  • Keep meticulous and prompt documentation that complies with state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Engage in ongoing learning opportunities through professional development and collaboration with peers.

Education

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA-certified.
  • Certifications

  • Valid state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) through ASHA is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Skills

  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based treatment methods applicable to all ages, along with a deep understanding of developmental and acquired communication, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional communication abilities allowing for effective interactions with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Skillful at modifying therapy techniques to accommodate diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Sound clinical judgment coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation protocols.
