American Kitchen Delights, Inc. is looking to hire an in-house corporate attorney and litigator to support multiple business lines while assisting with court litigation and a variety of other legal needs.
Responsibilities
Represent AKDI in court litigation and proceedings.
Present evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in civil litigation.
Represent the interests of clients in legal proceedings : argue motions, meet with judges, and question witnesses during a trial.
Interview claimants to get information related to legal proceedings.
Meet with individuals involved in legal processes to provide information and clarify issues.
Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
Provide legal advice on varying topics including corporate governance, employment matters, and real estate.
Research relevant legal materials to aid decision-making.
Identify implications for cases from legal precedents or other legal information.
Present and summarize cases to judges and juries.
Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals in state and federal courts of appeal.
Prepare documentation of legal proceedings.
Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents.
Coordinate and serve as a legal / compliance resource for various other initiatives.
Assist with corporate filings and manage relationships with various entities' registered agents.
Guide the commercial team on various legal issues as it relates to business plans and strategy.
Provides counsel on customer and supplier contractual disputes and assists with pre-litigation matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate a comprehensive range of commercial agreements.
Provide support and advice related to regulatory compliance matters.
Provide training to company personnel on substantive legal topics.
Help with the creation and implementation of legal policies and protocols.
Other duties as assigned.
3. QUALIFICATIONS & Requirements
Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree with a license in good standing to practice in Illinois .
Litigation and court representation.
Northern District of Illinois Federal Court Admission (Preferred)
Knowledge of real estate transactions (Preferred)
Minimum 2-3 years of experience preferred.
Knowledge of business law, and employment law, comfortable advising matters involving multiple states.
Advise on routine employment matters, including employment agreements and separations, and unemployment claims.
Excellent legal and business judgment and analytical skills.
Serve as responsible point of contact for the drafting, reviewing, and negotiating of a variety of related agreements.
Solve complex legal problems using sound, thorough, and thoughtful legal analysis, and judgment.
Possess computer and technology skills.
Strong communication, organization, and cognitive skills are essential. Must be able to work in a team environment.
Strong executive presence with the ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) and present to all levels of leadership.
Capable of prioritizing and detail-oriented.
Conversant with rules of civil procedure, discovery, and motion practice.
Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality are required.
Must possess highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to perform under pressure, manage multiple projects, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
The position includes its own private office suite at our facility.
