Regional One HealthMemphis, TNIT Clinical#Educational Specialist A Brief Overview IT Clinical Education Specialist plans and coordinates the information system training / staff development throughout the organization. Develops and conducts programs, in-services, courses and activities covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, patient information systems, technology best practices and staff development. What you will do Continually assesses and identifies learning needs of staff within assigned areas using multiple sources of data : annual needs assessments, observational data, course evaluation data, quality improvement / risk management information, joint commission standards, chart audit / reviews, staff interviews, standards or procedure audits, etc. Plans and prepares programs / courses to meet needs, including development of goals / objectives, instructional materials and evaluation strategies. Develops schedules of educational offerings, conducts training programs and in-services for staff members, consistent with meeting the needs of staff working various shifts and convenient to attend. Provides educational offerings and instruction in a variety of settings (i.e. classroom, clinical units, one to one, remedial assistance, follow-up sessions, etc.). Provides and conducts staff orientation, in-service and continuing educational programs which meet the regulatory standards by : Being knowledgeable of nursing standards of practice, policy and procedures, patient safety practices, and joint commission and other regulatory requirements within assigned area(s). Working with nursing management staff and unit educators to determine staff#s educational needs. Designing curriculum which meets standards and is tailored to the specific needs of staff. Coordinating and presenting programs to staff. Evaluating the resultant learning. Observes and evaluates clinical staff performance utilizing a variety of appropriate methods during orientation and training programs. Conducting follow-up and providing remedial work as needed. Plans and develops program / course content and teaching outlines consistent with hospital standards. Annual requirements are : Develop / implement at least four programs / year; Write two self-study programs / year; Participate in annual hospital wide needs assessments as well as perform needs assessments commensurate with each request for program offerings; Complete all projects within a specified timeframe consistent with expected professional quality standards; Develop an action plan with a target completion date for all ongoing projects. Demonstrates knowledge and technical, interpersonal and critical thinking skills to provide care, maintain clinical competency and meet age-specific patient needs within assigned unit(s). Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development, and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient#s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify the requirements of each patient and to provide the care needed as described in the unit#s policies and procedures. Maintains records of training / instructional activities and evaluate the effectiveness of courses / programs. Modifies curriculum and course content as needed to improve learning outcomes and ensure currency with current knowledge / science. Maintains professional credentials and education necessary to keep abreast and maintain a current knowledge of clinical / theoretical / educational principles, concepts and techniques, best practices and current trends. Attends continuing education, staff development, and mandatory programs. Prepares and maintains required statistics, procedural / course reference manuals, reports, and employee educational records. Assists staff in developing their potential in terms of clinical / non-clinical practice, leadership, teaching and teamwork. Qualifications Degree or equivalent experience in clinical or financial specialty (Nursing, Respiratory Care, Registration and Scheduling, etc.,) or Education Required and Bachelor#s Degree Preferred or Master#s Degree In area of specialization Preferred and Pertinent experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
