Milton Hershey SchoolMoore, OK, United States- Full-time
Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a renowned institution dedicated to transforming the lives of over 2,200 pre-K through 12th grade students from disadvantaged backgrounds with an exceptional, cost-free, career-focused education. Established in 1909 by Milton and Catherine Hershey, the school is fully endowed and has a legacy of over 12,000 graduates. We are expanding our team and are seeking married couples to join us as Full-Time Flex Houseparents.
As Full-Time Flex Houseparents, you will live on-campus in student homes, providing care, guidance, and support to approximately 8-13 students. This unique and impactful role allows you to foster a family-like environment that promotes students' academic, emotional, and social growth, enabling them to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily supervision and mentorship to students.
- Manage household routines and student schedules effectively.
- Administer medications and ensure the wellness of students.
- Drive students to various activities and engage in developmental and recreational events with them.
- Lead daily devotions and accompany students to Sunday Chapel.
- Oversee household budgeting and reporting activities.
Upon hiring, Flex Houseparents will initially support various student homes, working a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off. During weekdays while students are in school, houseparents have unscheduled time. Over time, you will transition into the Placed Houseparent role, working closely with a consistent group of students.
Benefits Include:
- Salary of $44,768.00 per person (approximately $168,000 total compensation per couple, including free housing, meals while on duty, utilities, and more).
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; health savings and flexible spending accounts; life insurance; and disability options.
- Retirement savings and relocation assistance provided.
- Paid training and designated paid time off throughout the year.
Qualifications:
- Experience working or volunteering with youth is beneficial.
- This position requires a legally married couple of at least two years.
- Both spouses must be 27 years or older.
- Student homes may have no more than three dependent children.
- Must commit to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus, with no alcohol permitted while on duty.
- Pet limitations apply: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed.
- Valid U.S. driver's license with the ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
- Comfortable leading students in daily devotions and attending Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited).
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism is essential, as MHS staff serve as role models for the students.
This unique, rewarding career choice requires a high level of dedication from both spouses to ensure student success. If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of these students, both partners must complete individual employment applications.
