Requirements Summary
You'll excel in this role if you have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience in electrical design for automation or custom machinery. We are looking for a creative designer proficient in electrical CAD (Solidworks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical) who can translate complex requirements into precise schematics, panel layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Position Overview
We are partnering with an integrator hiring a Hardware Design Engineer to join cross-functional project teams. This role focuses on the "ground up" design of custom machinery, from initial electrical calculations and component specification to supporting the panel shop during build phases. You will be the technical lead for hardware architecture, ensuring all designs are safe, efficient, and compliant with industry standards like UL508A and NFPA 79.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical schematics and panel layouts using CAD software (Solidworks or AutoCAD Electrical).
- Develop electrical BOMs and specify components such as PLCs, safety devices, and motion controllers.
- Perform electrical calculations including load analysis, wire sizing, and short-circuit ratings.
- Ensure control system designs comply with industry standards (NEC, NFPA, ANSI, RIA, UL).
- Collaborate with assembly technicians and the panel shop to ensure design accuracy during builds.
- Support system commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting in-house and at customer sites.
