Part-time Pharmacist - Shift - Inpatient Pharmacy
The estimated pay for this position is $73.3528 to $90.2147 per hour. The rates shown include a 6% premium pay (base= $-$ plus 6%). This reflects only a portion of the total compensation package for this position. Additional compensation may be available for this role through differentials, incentives, and bonuses. In addition, this position may be eligible for participation and company contributions into the Kern County Employees’ Retirement Plan.
Definition :
Under general direction, compounds and dispenses drugs, medications and pharmaceuticals; provides a variety of pharmacy practice services in a hospital or public health setting.
Distinguishing Characteristics :
This classification is the fully licensed level of professional pharmacy practice.
Essential Functions :
- Compounds, prepares, mixes, manufactures and dispenses drugs, devices and biologicals for inpatient and ambulatory patients.
- Reviews drug orders and prescriptions for therapeutic propriety.
- Maintains patient drug profiles of drug administration.
- Provides appropriate drug information and guidance to health professionals and patients.
- Maintains current information regarding poisons and hazardous substances.
- Prices drug prescriptions and drug orders.
- Supervises the preparation of charges for pharmacy services.
- Inspects and maintains inspection records of medication storage on nursing units or public health service sites.
- Dispenses or supervises the dispensing of floor stock drugs to nursing units.
- Supervises and prepares parenteral hyper alimentation programs.
- Prepares complex parenteral solutions such as intrathecal, hyper alimentation, antibiotics and chemotherapy.
- Monitors all medication labeling for full legal compliance.
- Monitors systems for drug storage and distribution in outlying clinics.
- Supervises work of ancillary pharmacy personnel.
- Dependent upon area of practice or department assignments, demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of the newborn, infant, toddler, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient ranging up to 100+ years of age.
Other Functions :
Employment Standards :
Graduation from a recognized school of Pharmacy. Possession of a valid license to practice Pharmacy issued by the California Board of Pharmacy and fulfillment of the continuing education requirements of the California Board of Pharmacy.
Appointees not possessing the American Heart Association Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card at time of hire must successfully complete appropriate training and qualify for the RQI Provider certification within 60 days of employment. As a continued condition of employment, employee must maintain RQI Provider certification and competency.
Knowledge of :
Pharmaceutical mathematics, chemistry, materia medica, and pharmaceutical manufacturing methods; current laws and regulations governing the operation of a pharmacy; drug costs;
Ability to :
Prepare a wide variety of drugs and medications; communicate and work cooperatively with health professionals and the public; properly direct and supervise the work of ancillary pharmacy personnel.
