Motor Vehicle Operator

The position is in the Environmental Management Service under the direct leadership of its supervisor at the Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) located in Louisville, Kentucky.

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Operate a truck or van equipped with a hydraulic tail lift.
• Perform fluid checks on vehicle and a general outer inspection and report all discrepancies to the vehicle maintenance shop for disposition.
• Complete trip tickets back and forth from the main hospital building and the laundry.
• Empties soiled linen chutes in the basement of the main hospital building and delivers the soiled items to the laundry building.
• Delivers clean linen and uniforms from the laundry building to the linen section to the main hospital building and transports empty linen carts and hampers between the main hospital and laundry as needed.
• Cleans and disinfects linen carts, linen chutes, soiled linen rooms and the inside of the truck.
• Sweeping, dust mopping, damp and wet mopping, scrubbing, stripping, refinishing, buffing, vacuuming carpets low dusting.
• Cleans office, lobby, and recreation room furniture following established cleaning procedures.
• Performs specialized sanitation duties in critical care and invasive/special procedure areas, including Operations Rooms, Intensive Care Units, to include Hemodialysis, SPD, and Emergency Room.
• Leads work when tasked to move all types of furniture, accessories, small nonmechanical items etc. using desk mover, file cabinet movers, cart between offices, and from Environmental Management storage areas.
• Transports general refuse, regulated medical waste and recycling to central collections areas following established procedures for waste management.
• Operate a variety of heavy power machines such as scrubbers, buffers, vacuum cleaners, water pick-up machines, etc. cleaning and adjusting, accomplishing maintenance on equipment as necessary.
• All other duties as assigned

• Must possess and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License.
• Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
