FLSA Status: Non-ExemptJob Status: FT/PRNJob Type: AdministrativeReports To: Concierge ManagerWork Schedule: Shift WorkAmount of Travel Required: NoneDirect Reports: NonePosition Summary Responsible for greeting patients, creating, and updating patient demographics and insurance information in the computer system, verification of health insurance benefits, explaining payment policies and billing/collections processes, generating charge ticket information, accepting, posting, and balancing cash drawer, scheduling follow-up appointments along with chart delivery and retrieval.Essential Functions Reasonable Accommodations Statement To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Primary Job Duties: Greet, register, instruct, discharge, and provide general assistance to patients.Obtain demographic and financial information and enter into computer system/electronic medical record.Verify insurance eligibility and relevant information on payment policies and billing/collection processes.Verify and collect co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, past due balances, and other patient financial responsibility when applicable.Maintain and balance cash drawer.Maintain electronic medical record, scan, and title documents appropriately.Confirm electronic medical record is complete, patient understands Nurse Practitioner's instructions and financial responsibility is settled prior to patient leaving the center.Retrieve and fax/mail medical records to primary care providers and insurance carriers per patient request.Answer the telephone, take messages, and forward them to the appropriate staff/provider.Help maintain patient flow within the center.Maintain a clean, orderly waiting room including reading material.Assist with the release of medical records.Demonstrate ongoing competency and proficiency in job requirements.Attend staff meetings.Assist with the orientation of new employees.Perform clerical tasks as required.Maintain strictest confidentiality.Other duties as assigned.SKILLS & ABILITIES Education:High school diploma or equivalentGraduate of an accredited medical receptionist program preferred.Experience:Two years' previous medical office experience preferred.Customer Service training preferred.Certifications & Licenses:BLS Certification preferred.Knowledge: Computer systems and applications including Word, Excel, and email.Knowledge of medical terminology and basic office procedures.Ability to type 30 words per minute and 95% accuracy.Skills: Ability to work independently and with the public in a high-pressure environment.Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
